Pokémon live-action film rights go to Legendary

You've probably heard a thing or two about the augmented reality game Pokémon Go recently, right? If not, then you should know it's all the craze right now and that even celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Stephen Colbert, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber or Jimmy Fallon are playing it. And it doesn't get any more MMO in our opinion, with everyone in the world walking around and interacting with each other.

Obviously, such a success would mean we would see more about Pokémon, including a film, which has been in discussion for a while now. After much waging, it's Legendary that closed the deal for the film rights with Pokémon Co. Apparently it's going to be the first Pokémon live-action film and it's based on Detective Pikachu, a new character in the Pokemon universe. Production should start in 2017.

This isn't the first Pokémon film – in fact, there were 19 Pokémon films before, but this is going to be the first live-action film.
