Chinese giant publisher Tencent is now the full owner of League of Legends developer Riot Games. Tencent already had acquired a majority stake in Riot back in 2011 and has just purchased the remaining equity of Riot Games. The news came through the official website and it looks like Riot staff is going to remain happy – Riot ranked 13 on Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2015.
League of Legends is one of the most prominent names in the eSports scene and 2015 was another great year for this game, with 334 million livestream viewers during the 2015 World Championships.
