Spellsworn is officially launching as free-to-play in March

Spellsworn free

Spellsworn is a PvP Arena Brawler that is going free to play this March, developer Frogsong Studios has announced. This is the first game from the Sweden indie studio and is on Steam Early Access since November 2015. It's been a while, right?

Spellsworn is heavily inspired by Warlocks, the WarCraft 3 custom mod, and is a competitive PvP arena brawler filled with spellcasting and an arena that is continuously shrinking.

“The competitive nature of Spellsworn is ideal for a free-to-play business model and this change in monetization will make it easier for our community to grow and enjoy the fast paced arena battles through a seamless matchmaking system,” said Stefan Jonsson, CEO of Frogsong Studios. “We want to stress that only cosmetic items, like skins and staffs, will be monetized, which will not affect the gameplay in any way. Players, who acquire Spellsworn before the launch, are in for a treat as they will be granted six unique items, two of which will be exclusive to the Early Access owners only!”

Spellsworn will remain in paid Early Access until March, when it switches its business model to free-to-play. It's not too soon, however – the game desperately needs players, as the current player base is shockingly low.
