Total War: Arena is shutting down

Developer Creative Assembly and publisher Wargaming have just announced that their free-to-play real-time strategy game Total War: Arena is going to shut down on February 22, 2019. The reason appointed for this decision is that during the open beta the game failed to meet the expectations that the studios had for it, and so they decided to cease development.

The release of today's patch marked the end of development on this game. The Arena team is going to continue working on the Total War series and use the experience learned from this game going forward, as well as the technological advancements.

Creative Assembly doesn't want to leave you empty-handed: you can get a free piece of Total War content from the Wargaming Game Center. Take your pick from the following: Total War: MEDIEVAL II – Definitive Edition, Hannibal at the Gates (Total War: ROME II DLC), Age of Charlemagne (Total War: ATTILA DLC) or Grim and the Grave (Total War: WARHAMMER DLC).

You can read the FAQ for instructions on how to claim this gift and what is going to happen to Total War: Arena until its closing day.
