Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation launches on Steam in English

Venus Vacation Steam English

I can't say for how long I've been waiting to give you this news. Koei Tecmo's Japan-exclusive PC game Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation has released on Steam on March 26, and in English as well! The other supported language are Korean, Chinese and Japanese.

There was no noticeable announcement, no fanfare, nothing whatsoever to anticipate this release. Well, unless there was something in Japanese that flew under the radar. Just as the original Japanese version published by DMM in 2017, DOAX: VV is a free-to-play game where cute girls play volleyball, try tons of different bikinis through a Gacha system and are unnecessarily embarrassed most of the time. Well, sometimes it is justified, to be honest, as you are mostly a spectator in this game.

But there is a catch: this Steam release is only destined to the Asian market, which means you can't play unless you can find a workaround.

And now you ask: if this game is on Steam and furthermore with an English localization, why isn't it available in North America and Europe? Because Koei Tecmo has decided it doesn't want to subject itself to another round of backlash due to the game's sensitive subject and objectification of women. It's understandable, but is it really to blame on western players only?

Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation just saw the release of its new character, Oni girl Kanna.
