Last Kings is a new free-to-play Unreal Engine 4 strategy RPG

Developer NX Games and Barunson E&A, publisher of free-to-play Korean MMORPG turned buy-to-play in the west Astellia Online, just announced a new strategy RPG, Last Kings.

Powered by the Unreal Engine 4 and the recipient of an Unreal DevGrant, Last Kings is in development for PC, Android and iOS. It seems to be a mix of elements from city-building and hero collector games, although with seemingly high production values. The dungeon raiding aspect seems to be inspired by Plarium's RAID: Shadow Legends, with a similar art style as well. Your party of up to five heroes will battle in turn-based battles, and while it's too early to say if Last Kings will employ the traditional mobile mechanic of auto-combat, our guess is that it is going to happen.

As for the city-building, resource gathering, and military aspects, you can use skills against your enemies, but the clashes are likely going to be semi-automated, to say the least.

Last Kings is a looker and tries to create a deep experience, but the sight of a power rating and a huge UI may point to a game that was created first and foremost with mobile devices – and monetization – in mind. We'll see if Last Kings positively surprises us when it releases sometime in 2020. Until then, you can follow the game on Steam or check the official website.
