Legends of Runeterra Release Date

Riot Games’ collectible card game Legends of Runeterra was officially announced in October 2019. While it may seem like it is late to a party that Blizzard started with Hearthstone, it has the unique strength of the League of Legends game driving its ambitions. The Legends of Runeterra download will be available on PC and mobile with cross-platform play. But what is the Legends of Runeterra release date?

Legends of Runeterra Release Date

Since the original announcement, Riot Games was adamant that it wants a Legends of Runeterra release sometime in 2020. However, it promised the disclosure of an exact date for a later time, something that is entirely reasonable – there’s a lot of beta testing to be done in the meantime, with the fickle balance of a digital card game requiring many hours of adjustments and hard work.

Late last year, a few limited-access preview patches gave the team plenty of insight on what to change and where to improve. Therefore, a closed beta that was planned to begin in early 2020 was scrapped, paving the way for a Legends of Runeterra open beta that will give everyone access to the game.

Furthermore, the open beta will mark the end of account resets, which means that you get to keep whatever you earn, and your progress is saved for the Legends of Runeterra full launch later in 2020.

Here are all the details that we have on the Legends of Runeterra release date:

  • Legends of Runeterra open beta begins on January 24 at 11 AM PT
  • Open beta begins on January 23 at 11 AM PT if you pre-registered on PC (one day earlier).
  • Legends of Runeterra release date: 2020.

The Legends of Runeterra beta and full launch business model is free-to-play, both on PC and mobile, so the Legends of Runeterra download isn’t going to cost you any money. Try it out to see if this is the game to give Hearthstone a run for its money, even if you’re not a League of Legends fan.
