Genshin Impact Gacha System | Is There a Character Gacha?

Genshin Impact Gacha System

They say that the best things in life aren't for free, but the wonderful anime open world RPG Genshin Impact shatters that rule into a million pieces. Developer miHoYo used every lesson learned with Honkai Impact 3rd to deliver a game that may keep its footing firmly in the anime genre, but its stylish looks hide a much more complex game. Besides, it's free on all the platforms, including PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS, so what else do you need? That being said, the devs need to make a living and need to monetize the game to justify the huge investment and work on updates. You may be wondering if there is a Genshin Impact Gacha system or some other way to keep development sustainable, and we have the answer.

Genshin Impact Gacha System | How is the Genshin Impact Monetization?

Introducing Gacha mechanics in an open world RPG may not sound like the most reasonable idea, but there are ways to make it work. In the case of Genshin Impact, there is a playable character and equipment Gacha at work, allowing you to earn different kinds of gear and items.

The way that it works is extremely simple. During gameplay, you click on the star-shaped icon on the top right part of the screen, accessing the Gacha screen, also called Wish. You may have the option to scroll through different types of Gacha according to what kind of events are available at a given time, so pick the ones that suit your fancy. Since a Gacha may give you a chance to get a specific character (for example, Jean or Diluc in one, or Noelle in another), make your decision carefully.

Gachas may also need different types of currencies to work. Some may require Acquaint Fate seeds, while others require the more common Primogem. You can wish once or draw ten times, increasing your chances but spending a lot more in the process.

While the Gacha may give some players an extra boost due to the enhancing and evolving gear that it offers, this isn't an issue. After all, Genshin Impact isn't an MMO, being more versed toward solo adventuring with optional co-op dungeon running. However, it may get some sort of PvP mode in the future.

As for the characters that you can draw via Gacha, don't worry. Progressing in the main storyline is enough to unlock new playable characters that are more than enough to fit the bill. You'll quickly recruit a balanced team comprised of the essential characters: Anemo (Traveler), Cryo (Kaeya), Pyro (Amber), and Electro (Lisa).

While a Genshin Impact Gacha system may seem like a concerning thought, you can rest assured that you can still enjoy this wonderful anime RPG to its fullest. Even if you don't get your hands on some of the characters (of which there are over 30 planned), the diversity and charm on offer is more than enough to bring a smile to your face.
