Lost Ark Controller Support | Can You Play Lost Ark with a Gamepad?

Does Lost Ark Have Controller Support?

Lost Ark is a wonderful and polished MMORPG that is finally available in the west. Although it is a PC exclusive and plays great with mouse and keyboard, some players feel that they would enjoy it even more by using a controller. However, not every game comes with controller support, so it's understandable that many of you want to learn about this possibility. So, is there Lost Ark controller support or are you forced to play with the mouse and keyboard combo?

Does Lost Ark Have Controller Support?

The short answer is yes, Lost Ark does have controller support right off the bat. This is great news for those who are eager to play with an Xbox or PlayStation controller, but there are a few things that you should know before diving into Arkesia with your gamepad in hand.

When you launch Lost Ark with an Xbox controller plugged in, it should be instantly recognized by the game under normal conditions. However, there may be instances where this doesn't happen and you must go into the Lost Ark Settings to check the Gamepad > Control options and make sure that the Use Gamepad option is enabled. Developer Smilegate has shown such care with its game that you can even remap the controller buttons in the Gamepad settings.

The main issue here is that the default controller options only seem to show the default Xbox layout. This means that if you're using any other controller with somewhat different layouts it can be more confusing to remap your buttons.

Which Controllers Does Lost Ark Support?

What's best is that Lost Ark even supports other controllers beyond the usual Xbox controller. You can use PS4 (Dualshock 3 and 4) and PS5 controllers (DualSense), a Nintendo Switch Pro controller, a Steam Controller, and even some generic controllers may work.

If your controller isn't working when you start the game, you can thank the Steam integration and give it a shot using this workaround. From the main Steam page you can go into Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings. Now tick the box that corresponds to the controller you are trying to use and return to the game. If you don't see any changes in the Lost Ark controller Settings, try rebooting the game.

Hopefully this Lost Ark controller support guide helped you in your quest for the use of a controller in this amazing MMORPG. Good luck with your next quests in Arkesia.
