*Gasps* Fortnite now has more than 125 million players, competitive season details

Fortnite Battle Royale Competitive Season

Looking back through the years, when Fortnite was going through its own special kind of development hell, who would have guessed that right now, it would count with 125 million registered players within its ranks?

Only a billion or two more and it will beat Angry Birds and Candy Crush Saga.

Anyway, Epic Games' is clearly the happiest developer in the world right now, and probably one of the wealthiest. Do you need proof? Well, what about the $100,000,000 they are using to fund prize pools for Fortnite competitions during the 2018-2019 season? That is a lot of money, right?

They revealed some details on the competitive season, including the different kinds of competitions: “community organized events, online events, and major organized competitions all over the world, where anyone can participate, and anyone can win.” The Fortnite World Cup Qualifiers will begin in Fall 2018 and the first ever Fortnite World Cup is planned for late 2019. Of course, these events will be available to watch. The Fortnite World Cup is going to be split on Solos and Duos, but also features some opportunities for squads.

You can watch the video below to get a few more details. I guess we'll talk about Fortnite Battle Royale again in a few weeks, when it reaches 140 million players.
