Mabinogi II: Arena team gets a name

While Mabinogi II: Arena may still be ages away from a Western release, news about it in Korea are flowing at a nice rate. After a couple of trailers and gameplay demos, we now get to know the official name for the team developing this ambitious MMORPG.

The team name will be N Square, a clever compromise seeing that Mabinogi II: Arena is a joint effort from NCsoft and Nexon. So, N plus N equals N Square, get it? The team is also planning moving to a new office in a few weeks to completely focus on the development of Mabinogi II: Arena, which would probably be called Vindictus II in the west.

Not sure it would be called Vindictus II unless it’s gameplay is similar to Vindictus. We already have a Mabinogi here in the west, and if this is the actual sequel to the game, it might be called Mabinogi II. Vindictus (Mabinogi: Heroes) is technically the prequel to Mabinogi.

I hope Mabinogi II will have more of the gameplay elements from it’s predecessor. I would love that.

You make a good point, but I think that since Mabinogi: Heroes was called Vindictus here, it’s likely that this goes the same way, seeing that the artstyle is similar to Vindictus (against the original Mabinogi, which was a more cartoony, open MMORPG)

That is great news! But it seems the game won’t make it for 2013, so there’s still a lot of time to wait 😐
