SMITE officially released in North America and Europe

Just as the good folks at Hi-Rez Studios announced a few months ago, the free-to-play MOBA game SMITE is launching today in North America and Europe. This mythology-themed MOBA is particularly known for using a very uncommon third-person view which puts players right in the middle of the action, instead of using the done-to-death top-down view as seen in League of Legends, Dota 2, Prime World, Strife… you name it.

Hi-Rez is hosting a tournament with a $200,000 prize pool to celebrate the launch, running from March 28 through Sunday, March 30, 2014, in Atlanta, Georgia in front of a live audience. The Launch Tournament includes the top four teams in Europe and the top four in North America that have qualified from the SMITE Weekly Tournament Series that began on January 4, 2014. The event will be live-streamed worldwide via twitch.tv/smitegame.
