Minecraft Earth Closed Beta is now live in five cities

Minecraft Earth Closed Beta

Is the Minecraft fever making a comeback with the upcoming augmented reality game for mobile devices? Minecraft Earth is coming to iOS and Android devices this summer and will be free-to-play.

Incidentally, the Minecraft Earth Closed Beta is now live, so it's a great time to check out the potential of this Mojang game. However, there is some fine print that you must pay attention to – the closed beta is only available in a few select cities: Seattle, London, Stockholm, Mexico City and Tokyo. The list is likely to steadily grow during the next few days, so keep checking the official site for further updates.

Minecraft Earth is bound to become the next ARG sensation, if everything goes according to plan. With Microsoft now owning the Minecraft license, there shouldn't be any limits for its ambition. The biggest ARG success of all time is indisputably Pokémon GO, with Niantic trying a second shot at fame and fortune with the recently released Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The results, apparently, are only a small fraction of what the studio achieved with Pokémon GO.

Watch Minecraft Earth's trailer below and one of the first gameplay videos showing you what this is all about. Are you ready to go outside and build a new world right on top of your reality, or this isn't your kind of thing?
