Phantasy Star Online 2 PC release date timeframe revealed

Phantasy Star Online 2 PC release date

With Xbox One players thoroughly enjoying the open beta, it looks like the Phantasy Star Online 2 PC release date isn't as far as it was initially expected. Just before the launch of the console closed beta, the official PSO2 site mentioned a late 2020 PC release, something that came as a huge disappointment for players expecting the game for several years. Naturally, the PSO2 twitter is constantly flooded with players asking about the PC version and how it isn't fair that Xbox One players will have such a headstart, especially considering that the game features cross-platform play. But do PC players really have to wait for the end of the year to play?

According to a recent tweet, the Phantasy Star Online 2 PC release date is pinned down for spring. This means that the release is happening in the next few months, so that's great news. However, we don't know what kind of release this is, and we're inclined to believe that it refers to a closed beta followed by an open beta, with the official launch coming late 2020, as initially announced.

Don't Miss: Is a Phantasy Star Online 2 Steam release happening?

This may seem like a cop-out, but it isn't due to lack of communication from Sega – it is, in fact, extremely active in this regard. However, the studio mentions that it is currently focused on the Xbox One version, something that makes sense due to the fact that Microsoft made the ultimate push to bring this anime MMORPG to North America, and eventually Europe.

President of Xbox Phil Spencer said that Phantasy Star Online 2 is eventually coming to more platforms, something that possibly refers to PS4 and Switch. This is, apparently, a timed exclusive, so other players are likely to enjoy the game in a year or two.

Not bad for a game that was originally released in 2012, right?
