Revival: What is the Blade and Soul Unreal Engine 4 update release date?

Blade and Soul Unreal Engine 4 update release date

Besides releasing frequent Blade and Soul content updates including new classes, NCsoft is busy with the massive graphical revamp known as Frontier World in Korea. The first trailers of this Unreal Engine 4 remake show an enhanced game that isn't just going to look better, it will also introduce some important changes to combat mechanics. While the launch is rolling out in phases since December 2019 in Korea, what interests us the most is when it will hit the North America and Europe servers. When is the Blade and Soul Unreal Engine 4 update release date for western territories?

Before we dive into the all-important question at hand, let's get some context first. Blade and Soul Frontier World, also known as Blade and Soul Complete is the UE4 update that will push a new character growth system and combat mechanics in a new server. In turn, the existing servers will henceforth be known as Life World, a distinction that is bound to clear any doubts as to what kind of systems you'll be trying. Or this was the plan, since NCsoft shut down Frontier World in March 2021 to focus on a new version.

The Blade and Soul Unreal Engine 4 update release date is September 8, 2021, but it was originally planned for 2020, having failed to meet this deadline. It was re-branded as Blade & Soul: Revival for North America and Europe.

In November 2019, NCsoft US said that it was expecting to roll out the Blade and Soul UE4 update during 2020. This desire was once again reiterated in a Producer's letter from February 2020, as Nico Coutant said the following:

“Korea has announced they are launching their Frontier World at the end of February, and we can’t wait to see how players react to this new take on the Blade & Soul world. Frontier World is a new service that takes us back to the roots of the game. After the Korean launch of Frontier World, we’ll be able to better assess the timing for the Unreal Engine 4 service launch in the west, but rest assured, we are still aiming to launch Unreal Engine 4 content this year!”
