Call of Duty Warzone Release Date | When is the Call of Duty Battle Royale 2020 launch?

Call of Duty Warzone Release Date

Last year's rumors about a free standalone Call of Duty battle royale game weren't full of hot air. As it turns out, this game is really coming in 2020, with the launch date closer than you would think. It makes sense, because Activision wouldn't want to compete with the usual annual Call of Duty release. Sure, these are very different games, but there would always be some competition between a free game and a premium title. The name of the battle royale game is Call of Duty Warzone, and it is probably inspired by the huge success that Call of Duty Mobile constitutes for the series – this game also included a battle royale mode. The Call of Duty Warzone release date is already doing the rounds in an unofficial way, but you should definitely keep an eye out for it.

Contrary to the previous Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout mode, Call of Duty Warzone is going to be free to download and play. Besides, it is releasing as a standalone game, although Modern Warfare players will be able to see the mode in the game's menu and launch it from there. On the other hand, Warzone players have an option to purchase an upgrade to Modern Warfare, although how that differs from buying the full game as you normally would is yet to see.

There are rumors of 200 simultaneous players at launch in squad-based modes and a ping system similar to Apex Legends. More interestingly, death isn't the end, as the fallen soldiers are sent to the Gulag prison, where they wait for their turn in a 1v1 clash. The winning player earns the right to return to the battlefield.

As for the Call of Duty Warzone release date, early March is the likeliest time frame. Video Games Chronicle is inclined to believe that the definitive Warzone release date is March 10, 2020, based on an educated guess: Modern Warfare updates usually deploy on Tuesdays, and that's how they came up with that date.

On March 9, 2020, Activision officially revealed Warzone and confirmed the March 10 release date. All in all, this is great news for shooter fans, as another Call of Duty shooter is always exciting. Besides, it's a free game and hopefully it is going to bring top production values and shake up the somewhat stale panorama of the genre – there's Fortnite, Apex Legends, PUBG, and every other game seems to disappear in a cloud of dust.
