Ghost in the Shell: First Assault is shutting down

One more game is about to bite the dust. Nexon's confusingly named Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex First Assault Online is going to sunset in North America, South America, Europe and Oceania on December 6, 2017. This decision comes shortly after the announcement of the closure of the Japanese version, planned for November 29, 2017.

First Assault Online is developed by Neople, of Dungeon Fighter Online fame, and went through a paid Early Access phase. It doesn't seem like the playerbase is terrible – numbers are probably higher than what you see from players using Nexon's launcher – and the reviews were fairly positive. That is, until the Renewal update launched and apparently messed up a lot of things.

We're convinced that the main reason for this is the closure of the Japanese version. Neople and Nexon probably decided to stop supporting the game right there, and the Renewal update was the final nail in the coffin.

Next stop: a proper Ghost in the Shell MMORPG. As if that is ever going to happen.
