New Dead Maze gameplay shows crafting and plenty of zombie slicing

New Dead Maze gameplay

Atelier 801 has revealed some new Dead Maze gameplay, over ten minutes of it in a new video. While it is described as a craft and combat video, most of it is slicing and dicing zombies.

The start of this video shows the crafting part, with recipes of different levels being used to create items from materials. You can create fishing rods, traps, shovels, crowbars, machetes and more. As for combat, it isn't turn-based and you can hit several enemies with one swing, which is a nice touch.

I'm a fan of the art style of Dead Maze. The colorful visuals make for a nice change from the usually bleak zombie games, and it somewhat reminds me of Dofus and other games from Ankama. The backgrounds seem overly static most of the time and the game world would benefit from some added environmental animations, not to mention interactivity. But we'll see how it plays when Dead Maze releases in 2018.

You can take a look at some of the outfits that you can use in Dead Maze, or head over to Steam if you want to follow this game.
