The much awaited announcement of the Punishing: Gray Raven worldwide release (play free on PC now) was somewhat expected, but we can never be too sure. Thus, it was with great satisfaction that we received the news from developer Kuro Game in April 2021. The hit sci-fi action RPG is making its way from China and Japan, landing in the pockets of players in North America, Europe, Australia, and South-East Asia sooner than we can expect – usually it takes many months or even years from the mere reveal up to the official launch, but not in this case. While the game's original release in China was back in late 2019 and it was followed by another successful bout in Japan, the Punishing: Gray Raven global version release date is set for July 16, 2021 in Android and iOS devices. Pre-registration for the closed beta started in May 19, via the Play Store and App Store, and the closed beta ran from May 27 until May 31, 2021.

The initial worldwide launch is but the beginning of the Punishing: Gray Raven adventure. The developers are promising many updates that add tons of new content to the game, one of the most requested surely being the new playable characters, the elite cyborgs that you can unlock and pull from the gacha, and assemble into the ultimate squad.

Just like it happens with many other games, you can expect some interesting collaborations with popular franchises. One that is bound to cause an uproar in case it ends up in the global version – it would be weird if it didn't – is the crossover event with NieR Automata. This premiered in January 2021 and introduced characters 2B, A2, and 9S, along with a few NieR-themed skins. Definitely something to keep an eye out for when  the Punishing: Gray Raven global release comes.
