Blue Protocol closed beta coming soon, new trailer revealed

Blue Protocol closed beta

Following on Blue Protocol's recent resurfacing, Bandai Namco has released a new trailer. This is the second official trailer for the game, if we're not counting the short glimpses at character creation and the recent developer's diary. The new gameplay video also serves as a way to introduce the upcoming Blue Protocol closed beta, which marks the transition from 2019's alpha test.

Bandai Namco is going to open the Blue Protocol beta test signups on February 12, 2020. This is the same day when the recruitment page is going to open, and players will be able to register for a chance at participating in the closed beta. There is no word on the target of this beta, but it's safe to assume that it will once again be exclusive to Japan, although some selected press from other regions will probably get some spots.

Blue Protocol Release Date | Is a Blue Protocol western release planned?

The new Blue Protocol trailer gives us a more detailed insight into the game world, as well as the colorful characters that will join the player. Crafted using the Unreal Engine 4, this is a stunning online game where players cooperate in semi-open world areas and dungeons, taking down bosses and exploring living, breathing cities, with day and night cycles and NPCs with their own daily routines.

The Blue Protocol closed beta should give some lucky players a good opportunity to see how the game has improved since 2019. Heralded by many as a promising MMO, Blue Protocol has the look and feel of a winner, with a visual style that invites comparison to Phantasy Star Online 2 and the recently announced Gran Saga. NPixel's game could be, in fact, one of the biggest rivals of Bandai Namco's anime RPG, but it will all come down to a matter of timing.

A Blue Protocol global release is pretty much confirmed, as Bandai Namco recently posted a job offer asking for a localization director with English skills.

As always, we'll keep on the lookout for more Blue Protocol news, especially the one where Bandai Namco officially announces a global release. However, don't hold your breath as this is surely going to take another year, at the very least.
