After Dota 2 and LoL, the Auto Battler craze continues with Tencent’s Chess Rush

Auto Battler Tencent Chess Rush

I had a feeling that Valve's Dota Underlords and Riot Games' Teamfight Tactics were just the beginning of another trend. A trend that is bound to become even more unnerving than the current Battle Royale situation.

While League of Angels 3 announced its take on the Auto Battler genre with Chess Hero a while ago, now it's Tencent's turn. Chess Rush is the upcoming Auto Chess game coming to iOS and Android devices on July 3.

Chess Rush features over 50 heroes and a battle board of 8×8 squares. Online co-op play is an option and there are two game modes: classic or turbo matches. Just as it happens with Dota Underlords, each match is in fact a tournament consisting of eight players taking turns in 1v1 battles until the winner is found. The turbo mode reduces the normal length of a match to more concise 10 minute matches.

The co-op mode will have four teams of two players each in confrontation. Another staple of the genre is combining three identical heroes to level up and trigger Affinity Bonuses.

If you register for Chess Rush right now you'll get some “epic skins” and maybe some real rewards. The official website doesn't seem to be working right now, but it should be live soon.
